Ways To Resolve Conflicts in Board Games
Resolving conflicts in board games through rolling of dice has been practiced by most since time immemorial. There are, however, other options available besides using dice rolling. Here are some of the methods that are just as effective in resolving battles, violence, rounds, and disputes without relying purely on luck:
Drawing Cards – more intense and creates personal connection with players, although it still involves luck just like in dice rolling;
Debating/Bidding/Voting – debating or voting gets all the players involved;
Using Skills/Talent – the skill of the player directly influences the outcome;
Capturing Opponent Pieces – a classic method of winning a combat is taking your opponent out.
Of course, to each his own and so it is up to the players to choose the mechanics that work best for them.
